The Northern California AHEC focuses on three areas of workforce development and training; pipeline projects, support to clinical student rotations and continuing education.
|
| |
Pipeline Project: Through partnerships with College Options and several of our clinic members, the Northern California AHEC assists in encouraging local youth to enter careers in health care. Techniques include health careers orientation curriculum deliver at local high schools, job shadowing opportunities and field trips to local and regional training providers.
|
| |
Support to Clinical Rotations: The Northern California AHEC partners with Shasta Community Health Center (SCHC) to provide housing for third year medical students in UC Davis Rural PRIME program. The students are completing clerkships in the Redding pediatrics department of SCHC. This partnership is an opportunity to familiarize these students with the valuable service provided by community health centers. The investment is anticipated to encourage their consideration of career opportunities in our Northern California community clinics after graduation.
|
| |
Continuing Education: In an effort to provide state of the art training for the primary care and allied health professionals in our member clinics, we coordinate trainings on a variety of subjects pertinent to their needs and emerging programs. CME’s are provided to participants through partnership with a variety of providers. |
| |
Workforce Planning: The Northern California AHEC has partnered with the North Coast AHEC to produce a Healthcare Workforce Plan for Northern California. The plan will include data gathered from all member clinics and professionals in our region and recommendations to address unmet training and development needs. |
